I have loved drawing from the moment I could hold a pencil. I have loved playing with colour, tone, form, shadows, and the fascinating things you can conjure with them all combined. I was taught to colour within the lines and that the thing you're drawing should look like the thing that you're drawing. However, throughout my life I have developed my own visual language to represent what I see and to bring it to life on the page of a sketchbook.
I have spent many years bringing new characters and places into the world, teaching myself new styles and skills along the way. Pretty much everything I know; I have taught myself and continue to do so to this day.
When Iβm not heads down in a cafΓ© sketching something new, Iβm working and spending time with my family. I have spent the last thirty years as a children's Nurse with the NHS and try as I might to keep the little artist inside of me contained, it is impossible. Inspiration can come from many things, and I have certainly found it in the craziness that has been nurtured by years of nightshifts and the NHS. I adore giving the things I see in the world a new life on the page, and you will definitely see that reflected in my work.
ABOUT ME
I am based in the glorious Tudor town of Shrewsbury, Shropshire. My town is filled to the brim with fabulous coffee shops, good food, the longest street of independent shops in the UK, and of course my family. I have two children who I adore, and who coincidentally also adopted a love of drawing. I find joy in teaching them all the things I wish I had known when I was younger. It is so great to be able to give them that creative freedom and the ability to develop their own voices, something I hope to inspire with my own art as well.
We are joined by our crazy cocker spaniel and our two cats. The times when Iβm not working or sketching, are spent camping, climbing hills, drinking coffee, and bathing in the greenery of the forest; not necessarily in that order. Every part of my life finds its way into the art I create, and I am very excited to share that with you and the world.
